Protect your identity. Get an IRS Identity Protection Pin (IP Pin) Today!

Steps to take:

        1. Search “Create IRS PIN number” or URL: https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-anidentity-protection-pin
        2. Click on “Get an IP PIN”
        3. Click “Create an account”
        4. Enter an Email and Password and click “Create an ID.me account”, then click “Continue”
        5. Confirm your email by going into your inbox and selecting “Confirm Email”
        6. Choose an option for a multi-factor authentication. If by phone, enter in number and select text or call and click “Continue”
        7. Enter code and click “Continue” twice
        8. Choose “Self-service”, click “Continue”, and check the box before hitting “Continue” again
        9. Choose “Take photo” and click “Continue”
       10. Using the link sent to your phone, submit photos of your ID and complete the self-portrait
                a. Note: You must pass Identity Verification
       11. Back on your computer, enter your Social Security Number and click “Continue”
       12. Make sure your information is all correct, then check the box and click “Yes”, then “Allow”
       13. Verify your email on your phone by hitting “Continue” in the Email ID.me sent to you
       14. Return to https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin
       15. Click “Get an IP PIN” then click “Continue”
       16. On the top, it should read: “Congratulations, your 2022 Identity Protection Pin is: XXXXXX”
       17. Your IP PIN is the 6-digits in green (Save this and give it to your CPA)

Note: Your IP PIN is only valid for one-year! You must get a new IP PIN every tax season!
