Two-Factor Authentication is an added level of security to protect your account from theft. With this additional level of security, you’ll be required to enter a unique verification code either from a mobile authenticator application, such as Authy or Google Authenticator, or from a text message sent to your mobile phone when you log into your account.
Cyber attackers are becoming increasingly better at hacking into accounts and other password protected locations. Hackers have the capability to test billions of password combinations in a second, thus it has become paramount to enable extra security in your financial and other online accounts. Betterment, Embark’s technology partner, offers Two-Factor Authentication and we recommend that everyone who has an account with Embark enable it.
Enabling Two-Factor Authentication on your account is simple. Click on “settings” which is at the bottom left of your screen. Once you click settings, click “security” on the top menu bar. You will see Two-Factor Authentication. Choose “set-up two factor authentication” and follow the steps provided.
If you’d like to set up with SMS authentication, you’ll be asked for your cell phone number to complete set up.
If you’d like to set up with a mobile authenticator application, such as Authy or Google Authenticator, Betterment will give you a QR code to scan from your authenticator app to set it up.
If your phone was lost or stolen, you can call Betterment at 888-373-9907 and they will help you disable Two-Factor Authentication so you can log in.
